John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich and other republicans have argued that their retention of the House of Representatives indicates a voter preference for divided government and a vindication of their intellectually bankrupt ideology. Of course, their assertions bear no resemblance to the truth, which is that control of state legislatures and governor's mansions gave republicans control of redistricting and republicans at the state level gerrymandered districts to their advantage. To be sure, such legislative skullduggery occurs in democrat controlled statehouses as well (Illinois).
Every screen-shot of John Boehner's mug should be a reminder to the demolibergressive coalition that not showing up in mid-term, state and local elections can have disastrous long-term consequences.
